“A big hand to the organisers! For the first time in my many years of conference experience, I witnessed more than 700 (!) professionals actively listening and asking questions (unlike at many conferences, where most of the audience just spend their time staring at their smartphones). Impressive!” – says the speaker, GetID Legal and Compliance adviser.

The main points of Dmitry Kuravkin’s presentation:

  • We live in a world of data. Every time we use the internet or any mobile gadget, we leave a digital trace, which can be used in many ways, depending on the country we live in or the provider whose services we use.
  • AI has a considerable impact on our decision-making and actions when it comes to our social habits, and a lot depends on whose [human] intelligence controls it.
  • A huge amount of data related to the use of mobile gadgets. GPS, WiFi, GSM – the data from these three sources gives telecoms big data that are also easily personalised. At the same time, there are quite a lot of minor details and restrictions that these companies have to take into consideration, like fulfilling the data anonymisation requirement and still being able to use the data in their research and services.
  • KYC, biometric data and data protection are key issues for any fintech start-up these days. Why? Firstly, because it is a question of survival in a world where every competitor tries to offer an on-boarding speed that’s better than yours, with this simple procedure often determining how well we can identify a client online. • Cooperation and interaction between businesses and regulators are vital. We need discussion, dialogue and a desire to listen to and hear one another – our goal (as KYC provider) is to make services as safe and convenient as we can, using the data for the right reasons only and subject to explicit consent.
